I chose sustainability in part because I wanted to acquire a skill set which would allow me to pursue my passion of nature and people. My time at IU South Bend afforded me the opportunity to do this in a variety of ways. Class projects with real life application took the forefront of most of my formal education, allowing me to see first hand what forms sustainability can take. 

An additional reason I chose sustainability is the nature of the study itself. It is a constantly evolving study intermingled with a mirroring of practice(s). To myself, it is an incredibly exciting time to be involved in a field that is so rapidly progressing. I want to one day be able to tell my child's children that I was involved in the beginning of something great.
