Community Involvement
This picture was taken in the Dominican Republic where I was assisting in a missions trip. During our time in the DR we (team of about 20 people) built houses, removed trees that were threatening structures, and mingled with locals in some of the poorest villages in the DR. This was probably if not definitely the most eye opening experience in relation to daily struggles endured by people in third world countries. It was also invaluable to me. It showed me that you can help someone. Maybe not everyone, but someone, which is a lot. I was able to take home understanding, passion, and knowledge which resonated throughout my experience. I learned I have a drive to help others and learn about new cultures.
6 years ago, my son, girlfriend, and I went on a trip out west. What we didn't know then was that this trip would be the inspirational catalyst which would eventually lead us into seeking our own Manifest Destiny. As of 2018, we have visited all 48 contiguous states in the U.S.
This picture is Arizona, one of our favorite topographical destinations.
Exploring the country allowed me to gain an intimate knowledge of the vast expanse that is the continental United States. I was able to gain perspective as well as knowledge and understanding of the various regions which constitute my home country as well as share the experience with the ones closest to me.
