INTERNSHIP
During my senior year I completed an internship with the South Bend Venues Parks & Arts with a focus on forestry management. Over the course of 3 months I gained new skills and simultaneously sharpened some I had already obtained. While the time was brief, the experience was invaluable. It allowed me to experience the interdependence people and nature often share while being able to contribute to this relationship in a sustainable way.
Specifically, I was involved in establishing a thriving urban tree canopy which involved a lot of personal interaction with local citizens. By communicating the importance of an urban tree canopy with the people of South Bend I was able to interact as well as educate, which allowed for a rich overall experience.
